Observational Studies
An observational study is one where the investigator observes the variables and responses without influencing the outcome.
Types of observational studies
- Sample survey – provides a snapshot of a population at a particular period in time.
Ex We want to determine which Republican presidential candidate will earn the party’s nomination.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
- Fairly quick to collect data.
- Timely (pro and con).
- Results may change quickly.
