ex. Framingham Heart Study – Began in 1948 to study the factors that contribute to cardiovascular disease. It enrolled 5209 subjects from Framingham, MA and followed them collecting data every two years. Since then the study followed 2nd generation and currently 3rd generation offspring from the original subjects. It has led researchers to understand some of the major contributing risk factors in cardiovascular disease.
