1. Graphical Analysis: Scatterplots
- If one has two quantitative variables, one plots the variables together on one graph. One variable’s values on the x-axis, the other variable’s values on the y-axis.
- If there is an explanatory-response relationship, then the explanatory variable goes on the x-axis and the response variable goes on the y-axis.
- If there isn’t such a relationship, then it doesn’t matter on which axis you put the variables.
