Split Stemplots – each stem is recorded twice on the plot. Leaves with values from 0-4 are placed in the first row ordered from smallest to largest. Leaves with values from 5-9 are placed in the second row also ordered in increasing magnitude.
Trimmed Stemplots – If the observed values of the variable have many digits, one can trim the numbers first by removing the last digit or digits (i.e. truncating the observartion) before making a Stemplot.
Note: StatCrunch automatically decides which type of Stemplot is best for the data that is given.
